In-house Network Designer

In-house Network Designer Circa £40k + £6k car allowance (per annum)

This new role requires you to have detailed understanding of all aspects of civil route and fibre planning and of local and national authority civil engineering regulations, and in return offers fantastic opportunities for personal growth and progression.

Job Purpose

Essential Requirements:
• A background within the Industries of ISP, fibre networks, fibre installations
• High level of competency in design skills
• Experience of FTTP Planning
• Excellent understanding of MS Office and products
• Evidence of a willingness to support and contribute within the team
• Someone who can apply initiative
• Self-motivated
• Attention to detail
• Works well in a professional, agile environment

Desired Requirements: (not essential)
• Qualified to degree level
• Experience of forecasting, pricing and costing
• Understanding fibre build
• Understanding of FTTP design software
• GIS software experience

• Produce fit for purpose, future-proof and cost-effective civils and fibre infrastructure designs using defined methodologies and architecture
• Working to meet project timelines
• Producing detailed industry-standard design documentation
• Support the development and implementation of SWS network design topologies
• Make required amendments to designs following survey
• Produce low-level design and high-level design planning functions
• Produce costs, bill of materials and bill of quantities
• Forecast capital expenses and operating expenses for designed infrastructure projects
• PIA (physical infrastructure access) planning
• Produce job packs
• Produce civils, A55’s, wayleaves, JUP’s and streetworks
• Liaising confidently and professionally at varying levels both internally and externally

Since 2005 SWS Broadband’s mission has been to provide high-speed broadband services to rural communities which are comparable to the services found in cities. Using leading-edge technologies to future-proof homes and businesses, we are currently rolling out new fibre broadband, which allows customers to choose a selection of packages with speeds from 30Mbps to 900Mbps.

SWS Broadband recently received a significant injection of capital from Tiger Infrastructure Partners and is now part of Global Connectivity plc.
